Growing up as a third culture kid in New Zealand can be exhausting. As a young person from a migrant or refugee background, you can find yourself having to explain your religion, your culture, and your history over & over.
Third Culture Minds was founded on the liberating experience of not having to explain yourself. To simply tell your story, sharing it with people who understand. We might not be from the same background as you, but we know what it is like to be a third culture kid in New Zealand.
We’re a bunch of third culture kids who can’t get enough of speaking our truth in safe places. We think this is an empowering experience, and one that is crucial to supporting positive mental health.
At Third Culture Minds we know first hand how hard it can be to talk about mental health. It can feel impossible to raise with your friends, let alone at home. We’re here as a first point of call - a place where you can find out what resources are out there for you, how you can access them, hear others stories and share your own.
Third Culture Minds is a space for young people from migrant and refugee backgrounds. But we don’t discriminate, if you’re interested in what we do, need some help, or simply want to say hi – come and be part of our story.
